Over 900 students participate in India’s first Children Innovation Festival

India’s first Children Innovation Festival culminates into a grand success

November 18, 2019, Ahmedabad: Top 30 ideas from school children out of 478 applications comprising 979 students from all across Gujarat made it to the final round of Children Innovation Festival (CIF) 2019. CIF is a first of its kind initiative to offer a platform to children led innovations organised by GUSEC in partnership with UNICEF. The initiative is to identify, nurture and support children’s innovations in the state.

The top 30 selected teams with innovative ideas & products will also exhibit their ideas at the CIF Conclave with multiple stakeholders followed by a felicitation ceremony which will be presided by Chief Minister of Gujarat. The selected team has 41 boys and 22 girls and the youngest one is from 5th standard. The final 30 has a representation of 9 districts of Gujarat.

On the final selection, Prof Himanshu Pandya, Vice-Chancellor, Gujarat University, said, “Gujarat University is leading Gujarat’s startup movement since its inception. The response to the Children’s Innovation Festival has been phenomenal and goes on to show how hungry young Indians are for opportunities and platforms. We have decided to make CIF an annual exercise.”

Speaking at the press conference, Laxmi Bhawani, Chief, UNICEF Gujarat said, “It gives us immense pleasure to announce these 30 names as the entire world is celebrating 30 years of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The UNCRC, signed and adopted by India gives the Rights to Survival, Development, protection and participation to the children across the world. She informed that world leaders signed the UNCRC on November 20, 1989. “This initiative will strengthen the Right to Participation of children and young people in Gujarat. The CIF provides a platform for children to showcase their ideas, we are here to help them in scaling up their ideas,” she added.

Earlier, CIF had shortlisted 114 teams from across the state under the age of 18 who participated in a full-day boot camp where they were taken on an entrepreneurial journey with mentors and subject matter experts. Later, young innovators pitched their ideas and innovations to a jury panel.

On the response to the festival, Rahul Bhagchandani, Group CEO, GUSEC, said, “The youngest of the participant in the Bootcamp was of 4th standard. Applications were received from more than 22 districts from across the Gujarat state, including private and government schools,”

“These young innovators amazed us with their diverse ideas and their empathy to find the solutions for the pressing challenges for society. The top 30 teams will get a slew of support from GUSEC to take their ideas to the next level,” he added.

The top 30 selected teams will now get pre-incubation support including access to government grants, free co-working space, mentorship, cloud credits over US$20,000 (roughly around ₹14,00,000), networking access and other benefits through GUSEC and Gujarat University.

The ideas received for the festival belonged to various sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Energy conservation, Education, Agriculture, Environment and several others. Some of the innovative ideas were development of a device for Alzheimer patients to locate their misplaced things by using wireless network-based technology, designing a smart stick for blind people to caution them of any obstacles ahead in their paths, development of a smart sensor-based system to update the farmer of the actual conditions of the farm soil and many more.

CIF is being organised with the support of UNICEF, which is fully committed to working with the Government of India to ensure that each child born in this vast and complex country gets the best start in life, thrives and develops to his or her full potential. 30 ચિલ્ડ્રન ઇનોવેટર્સનું GUSEC, UNICEF સન્માન કરશે, ફંડ આપશે

નવેમ્બર 18, 2019, અમદાવાદ: ચિલ્ડ્રન ઇનોવેશન ફેસ્ટિવલ (સીઆઇએફ) 2019ના અંતિમ ચરણમાં 30 આઇડિયા પસંદ થયા છે. સીઆઇએફમાં 979 વિદ્યાર્થીઓની ટીમ્સની 478 અરજીઓ આવી હતી. જીયુસેક અને યુનિસેફની ભાગીદારીથી યોજાયેલું સીઆઇએફ બાળકોના ઇનોવેશન્સને પ્લટફોર્મ આપવાની નવીન પહેલ હતી. રાજ્યના બાળકોના ઇનોવેશન્સને શોધી, પ્રોત્સાહન તેમજ ટેકો આપવાનો તેનો આશય છે.

પસંદ કરેલી 30 ટીમ્સ તેમના પ્રોડક્ટ્સ અને ઇનોવેશન્સને આગામી સમયમાં યોજનારી સીઆઇએફ કોનક્લેવ દરમિયાન અનેક સ્ટેકહોલ્ડર્સ સમક્ષ રજૂ કરશે. રાજ્યના મુખ્યમંત્રીની અધ્યક્ષતામાં તેમનો એક સત્કાર સમારંભ પણ યોજાશે. પસંદ કરાયેલી 30 ટીમ્સમાં 41 વિદ્યાર્થીઓ અને 22 વિદ્યાર્થીનીઓ છે. તેઓ રાજ્યના 9 જિલ્લાંનું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરે છે. સૌથી નાનો વિદ્યાર્થી ધોરણ – 5નો છે.

30 આઇડિયાઝની પસંદગી અંગે ગુજરાત યુનિવર્સિટીના વાઇસ ચાન્સેલર પ્રો. હિમાંશું પંડ્યાએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “ગુજરાતમાં સ્ટાર્ટ-અપ પ્રવૃત્તિ શરૂ થઈ ત્યારથી ગુજરાત યુનિવર્સિટી તેનું નેતૃત્ત્વ કરી રહી છે. સીઆઇએફને અદભૂત પ્રતિસાદ મળ્યો તે દર્શાવે છે કે ભારતીય યુવાનોને તક અને પ્લેટફોર્મ્સની કેટલી જંખના છે. સીઆઇએફને મળેલા પ્રતિસાદને જોઈને તેને વાર્ષિક કાર્યક્રમ બનાવવાનો અમે નિર્ણય લીધો છે.”

પત્રકાર પરિષદને સંબોધતા યુનિસેફના ગુજરાતમાંના અધ્યક્ષ લક્ષ્મી ભવાનીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “સમગ્ર વિશ્વ યુનાઇટેડ નેશન્સ કન્વેન્શન ઓન ધ રાઇટ્સ ઓફ ધ ચાઇલ્ડ (યુએનસીઆરસી)ની 30મી વર્ષગાંઠ ઉજવી રહ્યું છે ત્યારે આ 30 નામોની જાહેરાત કરતા અમને ખૂબ આનંદ થાય છે. ભારત યુએનસીઆરસીનું સદસ્ય છે. તેના મારફતે સમગ્ર વિશ્વના બાળકોને અસ્તિત્વ ટકાવી રાખવાના, વિકાસના, રક્ષણના તેમજ ભાગીદારીના અધિકાર મળે છે. ”

તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “વિશ્વના નેતાઓએ 20 નવેમ્બર 1989ના રોજ યુએનસીઆરસી પર હસ્તાક્ષર કર્યા હતા. આ પહેલથી ગુજરાતમાં બાળકો અને યુવાનોની ભાગીદારીના હક્ક વધારે મજબૂત બનશે. તેમના આઇડિયાઝને સીઆઇએફે પ્લેટફોર્મ આપ્યું છે. હવે અમે આઇડિયાઝને સ્કેલ-અપ કરીશું. ”

અગાઉ સમગ્ર ગુજરાતમાંથી 18 વર્ષ સુધીના વિદ્યાર્થીઓની બનેલી 114 ટીમ્સે સીઆઇએફના એક દિવસના બુટકેમ્પમાં ભાગ લીધો હતો જે દરમિયાન વિષય નિષ્ણાતો અને મેન્ટર્સે તેમને ઉદ્યોગસાહસિક્તા તરફની સફરની ઝલક આપી હતી. બાદમાં યુવા ઇનોવેટર્સે જ્યૂરી પેનલ સમક્ષ પોતાના આઇડિયાઝ અને ઇનોવેશન્સનું પિચિંગ કર્યું હતું.

સીઆઇએફને મળેલા પ્રતિસાદ અંગે જીયુસેકના ગ્રૂપ સીઇઓ રાહુલ ભાગચંદાનીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “બુટકેમ્પમાં રાજ્યના 22 જિલ્લાની ખાનગી અને સરકારી શાળાઓમાંથી અમને અરજીઓ મળી હતી. સૌથી નાનો અરજદાર ધોરણ-4માં અભ્યાસ કરે છે. તેમના વૈવિધ્યસભર આઇડિયાઝ અને સમાજને નડતા પ્રશ્નોના ઉકેલ લાવવાના તેમના પ્રયાસોથી અમે આશ્ચર્યચકિત થઈ ગયા છીએ. પસંદ કરેલા 30 આઇડિયાઝને નવા મુકામ પર લઈ જવા માટે જીયુસેક અનેક રીતે મદદ કરશે, ” તેમ તેમણે જણાવ્યું હતું.

પસંદ કરેલી 30 ટીમ્સને ગુજરાત યુનિવર્સિટી અને જીયુસેક દ્વારા પ્રી-ઇન્ક્યુબેશન સપોર્ટ મળશે. જેમાં સરકારી ગ્રાન્ટ, નિશુલ્ક કો-વર્કિંગ સ્પેસ, મેન્ટરશીપ, 20,000 ડોલર – એટલે કે લગભગ રૂ 14 લાખની ક્લાઉડ ક્રેડિટ્સ તેમજ નેટવર્કિંગ એક્સેસનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.

ચિલ્ડ્રન ઇનોવેટર્સની ભૂમિકા અંગે ડો લક્ષ્મી ભવાનીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, “ફેસ્ટિવલ દરમિયાન આર્ટિફિશિયલ ઇન્ટેલિજન્સ, ઊર્જા સંરક્ષણ, શિક્ષણ, કૃષિ, પર્યાવરણ સહિતના ક્ષેત્રોને લગતા આઇડિયાઝ રજૂ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. તેમાં અલ્ઝાઇમર્સ ડિઝિઝના દર્દીઓ માટે ખોવાયેલી વસ્તુઓ શોધવા માટે વાયરલેસ ટેક્નોલોજી આધારિત ઉપકરણ, પ્રજ્ઞાચક્ષુઓને ચાલતી વખતે આગળ રહેલા અડચણોની ચેતવણી આપતી સ્માર્ટ સ્ટિક, ખેડૂતોને જમીનની સ્થિતિની વાસ્તવિક સ્થિતિ જણાવતી સેન્સર આધારિત સીસ્ટમ્સ સહિત અન્ય આઇડિયાઝનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. ”

સીઆઇએફનું આયોજન યુનિસેફના ટેકાથી થયું છે. આ વિશાળ અને વૈવિધ્યસભર દેશમાં જન્મેલા દરેક બાળકને જીવનમાં સાચી દિશા મળે, તેમજ તેની પૂરેપૂરી ક્ષમતાનો ઉપયોગ કરી શકે તે માટે ભારત સરકાર સાથે કામ કરવા યુનિસેફ કટિબદ્ધ છે. સીઆઇએફમાં ભારત સરકારના નેશનલ સાયન્સ એન્ડ ટેક્નોલોજી ઓન્ત્રપ્રીન્યરશીપ ડેવલપમેન્ટ બોર્ડ (એનએસટીઇબી), નિતિ આયોગના અટલ ઇનોવેશન મિશન, ગુજરાત સરકારના શિક્ષણ વિભાગ, ગુજકોસ્ટ, ટાઇ- અમદાવાદ, મોટવાણી – જાડેજા ફેમિલી ફાઉન્ડેશન, વાય જે ત્રિવેદી એન્ડ કંપની, અને પીડીપીયુ સેન્ટર ફોર કમ્યુનિકેશન ઓફ ચાઇલ્ડ રાઇટ્સનો ટેકો અને ભાગીદારી રહી હતી.
