GUSEC Startup Abyom Aerospace Represents India at the Prestigious Indo-German InnoXchange Programme

Ltd., one of GUSEC’s incubated startups, which was selected to represent India in the first-ever Indo-German InnoXchange Programme 2026. Organised by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and its German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH), the programme brought together some of India’s most promising DeepTech innovators to explore one of Europe’s most advanced innovation ecosystems.

For GUSEC, this achievement is more than just another milestone. It reflects the growing global recognition of startups emerging from Gujarat and demonstrates how Indian DeepTech companies are increasingly contributing to international innovation and technology partnerships.

 

Building the Future of Space Technology

Founded by Jainul Abedin, Abyom SpaceTech & Defence is developing next-generation technologies focused on reusable launch vehicles, space infrastructure, and dual-use defence systems. The startup is driven by a vision to make access to space more affordable, sustainable, and technologically advanced through indigenous engineering and innovation.

In a relatively short span, the company has achieved several significant milestones. It established India’s first commercial rocket engine testing facility, successfully completed a pilot programme with IIT Bombay, and earned recognition in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2025 as well as the Forbes Select 200 Companies with Global Business Potential (2024). These accomplishments highlight the startup’s growing influence in India’s rapidly evolving space technology ecosystem.

 

Representing India at the Indo-German InnoXchange Programme

The Indo-German InnoXchange Programme is a bilateral initiative designed to strengthen collaboration between India’s and Germany’s DeepTech startup ecosystems. Rather than being a conventional startup showcase, the programme focuses on creating meaningful partnerships between startups, research institutions, universities, incubators, industry leaders, and government agencies.

The inaugural delegation comprised 10 participants, including startup founders and incubation leaders from across India representing sectors such as SpaceTech, Aerospace, Energy, ClimateTech, and MedTech. Abyom’s Founder & CEO, Jainul Abedin, was selected as one of the startup representatives, highlighting the company’s technological potential and relevance within India’s DeepTech landscape.

 

Learning from One of the World’s Strongest Innovation Ecosystems

During the week-long programme, the Indian delegation travelled across Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Heidelberg in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Participants visited renowned research institutions, innovation centres, startup parks, universities, and technology organisations while engaging with entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers, and ecosystem enablers.

The programme also included participation in the Applied Deep-Tech Festival, where delegates explored emerging technologies and discussed opportunities for international collaboration, technology commercialisation, intellectual property strategies, funding mechanisms, and global market access.
