System Architecture & Electronics Design:
- Define and document the full electronics architecture for the UAV platform: power subsystems, compute hierarchy, sensing layers, and communication topology.
- Produce system-level block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), power budgets, and bus allocation maps.
- Make and record architectural decisions - processor selection, power rail strategy, protocol choices - with traceable rationale.
- Ensure the architecture meets SWAP-C (Size, Weight, Power, Cost) constraints specific to a tactical UAV context.
PCB Design & Development:
- Design multi-layer PCBs for UAV-specific applications: power distribution boards, sensor carrier boards, interface boards, and custom flight controller carriers.
- Create and maintain component libraries, schematic symbols, and PCB footprints in Altium Designer or KiCad.
- Perform component selection balancing technical performance, SWAP, availability, and supply-chain risk.
- Generate complete manufacturing packages (Gerbers, BOM, assembly drawings) and manage fabrication and PCBA vendor coordination.
- Design for vibration, thermal stress, and EMC/EMI requirements inherent to UAV rotor environments.
Flight Controller Integration - Cube Orange / PixHawk:
- Integrate and configure Cube Orange or PixHawk-series flight controllers within the platform electronics stack.
- Design carrier boards or interface boards compatible with the Cube ecosystem — CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, TELEM, and power rails per the Cube standard.
