GU To Host Education Minister & All Vice-Chancellors Of Gujarat In A Top-Level Meeting Regarding Startups & Entrepreneurs

Today, Gujarat University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. MN Patel invited Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, the Hon. Minister of Education, for a round-table meeting of Vice-Chancellors of all public and private universities of the state of Gujarat.
The invitation was personally handed over by a delegation of the Vice-Chancellor, led by the Registrar of the university. The Hon. Minister has confirmed his presence and will chair the meeting.
The meeting has been scheduled for August 21st.
Because most startups are created by individuals during their years of college or a few years after that, the role of universities in building and nurturing an entrepreneurship culture is extremely crucial. The VC round-table will be an opportunity for all universities and the government of Gujarat to discuss and deliberate on ways to work together in order to make a significant difference and to propel the cause and the movement of entrepreneurship further.
The invitation letter is published as follows, verbatim:
August 11, 2015

Subject: Invitation to a meeting of Vice-Chancellors of public and private universities of Gujarat on matters of startups & entrepreneurship

Respected Sir,
Gujarat University is taking necessary and concrete steps to institute a startup and entrepreneurship culture in over 300 institutes and 3.5 lakh+ students affiliated to the university.
Last month, for this matter, we constituted the ‘Gujarat University Startups & Entrepreneurs Council’ (GUSEC) and have taken significant strides in the matter.
In such times of unstable economy and unemployment, startups & entrepreneurs will help us create more jobs, thus helping India stabilise its economy. The job of giving full support to these startups and entrepreneurs is the responsibility of public institutions including universities.
Most of the startups are formed during college years or a few years after college, and hence, universities of higher learning have a crucial role to play, alongside that of the state government.
To elaborately discuss how universities of Gujarat can work with the government of Gujarat, and how together we can support and nurture startups and entrepreneurs, I take this opportunity to invite you to attend and chair the meeting of Vice-Chancellors of public and private universities of Gujarat.
We plan to conduct this meeting during the third / fourth week of August at Gujarat University campus, and I request you to provide a convenient date and time from your busy schedule in order for us to arrange the meeting as per your convenience.
Thanking you,
Dr. M. N. Patel
Vice-Chancellor,
Gujarat University
