Under the aegis and support of the MEITY Startup Hub (MSH) of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, GUSEC has been recognized as a Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) Incubation Centre.

GUSEC TIDE primarily focuses on identifying, nurturing and supporting startups utilising emerging technologies such as Electronics, Information Technology, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, etc. for solving problems and challenges across Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Financial inclusion including digital payments, Infrastructure and transportation, Environment and cleantech, Clean energy and other emerging areas of social relevance.

Idea Validation – Up to ₹4 lakh in support

Validation and development of an idea through Entrepreneur-in-Residence (TIDE EiR)

      • Funding support of up to ₹4 lakh per idea / startup
      • A startup needs to be at early-idea or idea stage stage
      • The funding shall be utilized towards validation and developing Proof-of-Concept of an idea (POC) during the stipulated timeline

Prototype Development – Up to ₹7 lakh in support

Prototype development grant for TIDE supported startups through GUSEC

      • Funding support of up to ₹7 lakh per idea / startup
      • A startup needs to be ready with Proof-of-Concept of the idea 
      • The funding shall be utilized towards validation and developing Proof-of-Concept of an idea (POC) during the stipulated timeline

Facilities & Resources for Startups

Alongside financial assistance, startups at GUSEC, under TIDE 2.0, will get a variety of support through GUSEC, enlisted as follows.

Co-Working Space

Sample textAt the heart of GUSEC is a co-working space, sprawling 30,000 sq. ft., with 300 seat capacity. The co-working space is connected to a 1Gbps fiber-internet connection, all-day coffee access, and lush-green spaces of the campus surrounding it for outdoor meetings and activities. The co-working space is also secure with an access control mechanism.

Fablab

GUSEC premises also encompass a micro Fablab with 3D printers and rapid prototypers, available for startups to use at no- or low-cost.

IPR Support

GUSEC provides patent and trademark support through an IP Cell which is a facilitator for supporting IP-related matters of students, faculty and startups supported by Gujarat University. Any student or faculty can file a patent and get a reimbursement of up to the full expense borne for filing the patent, as per prior approvals accorded by the aforementioned IP Cell.

University Infrastructure

All university infrastructure, including research and scientific labs, equipment, auditoriums, amphitheater, super-computing facility, is available to startups at GUSEC.

Mentorship

Startups at GUSEC also get access to on-demand mentorship from pool of mentors empaneled with GUSEC.

Free Cloud and Services

GUSEC has partnered with prominent organisations to avail their service/products at low or no cost for incubated startups. This includes, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud and GSuite, Digital Ocean, Intercom, HubSpot, Msg91

Software Access

GUSEC offers startups free access to a variety of software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Biteable, Statista, Bizplan, Canva, Animaker at GUSEC’s Common Resource Centre.

Networking, Facilitation

GUSEC facilitates startups with networking and connections based on the need. GUSEC also organises regular mentor meetups, events and programs, where startups can participate.

Most important terms, conditions and rules

  1. Startups will be required to apply using the dedicated portal specifically maintained by MeitY Startup Hub, and use the portal to regularly update relevant required documents such as utilisation certificate, period progress reports, etc.
  2. Benefits/ Assistance extended to each granted startup shall be under observation of GUSEC TIDE.
  3. Financial support shall be in form of non-dilutive instruments such as grants-in-aid / returnable grants / etc.
  4. Selected startups for funding shall be subjected to evaluation, reporting periodically. During the evaluation, the progress of the proposed ideas/project/product shall be rated. Any deviations shall be recorded. In case major deviation(s) which may result in failure of the proposed idea/project/product, the support and the facility extended to startup shall be revoked.
  5. Startups getting support under the scheme will be required to exclusively incubate with GUSEC TIDE. The startup, after completion of grant disbursement, will be required to provide utilisation certificate for the full grant amount utilised, as well as progress reports for at least 1 year after full disbursement of the grant.
  6. To avail the grant and related support, the startup shall get into an agreement with GUSEC, which will be the governing document for utilisation of the grant.
  7. The primary founder (the applicant) of the startup must be involved with the startup full-time and he/she will be responsible to comply with any other guidelines related to this grant support.
  8. Startups applying for Prototype development grant of INR 7 lakhs under this TIDE – must be a registered entity such as a private limited company or LLP and recommended to have a DPIIT startup recognition certificate.
